Oceanside Photo & Telescope (est. 1947) is a specialty retailer of astronomical and photographic equipment owned by J. Craig Weatherwax II. Originally called "Oceanside Photographic Center", the name was changed to "Oceanside Photo & Telescope" or "OPT" in the 80's to reflect the strong business growth in selling and servicing serious telescopes led by Scott W. Roberts and Mike West for the amateur astronomer.
Located in Oceanside, California, Oceanside Photo & Telescope (OPT) managed by astrophotographer Eric Blackhurst, carries major brands of astronomical equipment, and is a supporter of education and public outreach in astronomy through their participation in many programs, including the Astronomy Outreach Foundation, and their generous underwriting support of the AstronomyOutreach Awards.
