History
The idea for the conference was inspired by Allan Green (President of the Rockland Astronomy Club), who came up with the name "Northeast Astronomy Forum" (NEAF) and Al Nagler (founder of Tele Vue). Allan established the first event with Don Urban, who brought important organizational changes to the RAC, including holding regular meetings, and established NEAF to be the event it is today.
NEAF, now chaired by Alan Traino, has risen to a world class event attracting thousands to the annual event.
Outreach
Under Alan Traino's guidance, NEAF has become a major outreach event for the general public, attracting many of the curious public and novice amateur astronomers from far and wide.
