Welcome to the AstronomyOutreach network!

This organization was formed in the year 2000 to popularize and recognize individuals and organizations committed to the educational outreach in astronomy and space science.

Eleven years later the AstronomyOutreach network moved to this MediaWiki platform to allow individuals and organizations to create pages specifically related to astronomy and space science with an emphasis on educational public outreach (EPO).

Benefits

Here you can learn how organizations and individuals can receive benefits, recognition, and learn how to get involved to help people in your community understand the wonders of the sky and the importance of science in our everyday lives by sharing your knowledge and telescope with the public.

Our official forum for AstronomyOutreach network is hosted by Cloudy Nights at http://www.cloudynights.com/ubbthreads/postlist.php/Cat/0/Board/outreach. Support for the forum is made by a generous contribution by Astronomics (http://www.astronomics.com).

Recognition

The AstronomyOutreach network hosts the AstronomyOutreach Awards (the "AstroOscars") presented each year at the Winter Star Party in the Florida Keys to recognize exemplary education and public outreach in astronomy to notable individuals and organizations.

The WebSpace Awards recognize excellence on the web for education and public outreach in astronomy and space science.

The AstronomyOutreach Hall of Fame recognizes notable individuals who have made a major lifetime contribution to astronomy outreach to the public.
